I've had several blog posts brewing in my head about blogger status, blog rolls, rankings, etc. Some of my thoughts are a little critical of the deepening divide between "a-list-ranked blogs" and "all the rest." I have long questioned the dynamics of how blogs are measured and the meaning they hold from a business and author's perspective. From a business perspective, rankings, metrics, volume, frequency, are all necessary to measure, maximize and compete. Sharing information though as a subject-matter-expert, I find it disconcerting that Technorati puts value on number of links to determine "authority."
Mack Collier at The Viral Garden thankfully has started to address this in a "Z-List" meme built around giving link-love to blogs the community feels deserve it... Hopefully, in turn, putting Technorati's system of using a blog's # of links to determine its 'authority', on its ear.
Starting the list with Revenge of the Z-Lister, The Viral Garden put together some blogs that he wanted to call attention to. Taking off this week, Mike at Converstations has since assembled an even longer list of top marketing blogs.
Making the cut and being included in this "under the radar" list of appreciated blogs is really a great feeling. It's not a cold, automated determination, but one that comes from personal endorsement and referral.
Behind every blog post is an author reaching out to readers. In front of every browser, sits a human being reading, digesting and interacting with information posted. For Mike at Converstations to include Viaspire on his list, means far more to us than any cold metric a report can spit out.
We appreciate the link love. We are proud to be a Z-Lister and ask for you to continue this meme!

This is certainly turning into a fun meme ... lots of good blogs, some good stories about them, and often plenty of good humour! Thanks for the link!

Heather,
I suppose that I should point out that the MSCO blog is actually titled, Unconventional Thinking.
However, most people know Mark Stevens from his books, Your Marketing Sucks, and Your Management Sucks.
We’re working on an appropriate post to commemorate this event. You’ll see it soon.
Thanks,
Chris Kieff, Dir. Internet Mktg.
