Fast-food Ordering from Facebook

An Ad Age article reports that Pizza Hut will be among the first fast-food chains to allow consumers to order directly from their Facebook page or their iPhone.

This is not too much of a stretch as online ordering has been around for a while now, but being able to do so without having to go to a separate website (at least if your are on Facebook at the time) is convenient.

Maybe if Chipotle (my favorite fast-food establishment) gets on board with this (especially an iPhone app) I will probably get more excited.

Twitter | Are Ads Coming Soon?

So how will Twitter generate revenue? Or how will it continue without a revenue stream? A lot of people have long speculated that Twitter will start serving up ads. In fact, Twitter does just that in Japan. So is it just a matter of time before we see this in the U.S.? Ben Kunz, director of strategic planning at Mediassociates and author of ThoughtGadgets.com, expresses his thoughts in an article in BusinessWeek.

Microblogging | A Lifestyle for Some

Do you know anyone like Amanda Mooney? With the popularity of Twitter, and other microblogging services and social networks, it appears there may be millions. But how do you decide which service(s) to use or find the time to monitor and maintain them all?  For me it comes down to two basic questions:

1. Where are my family, friends, and colleagues?
2. What services work for me?

Basically, the microblogging service or social network has to allow for quick and easy use. This includes being able to utilize text messaging, mobile and internet (which most, if not all provide). Mobile web is becoming more important to me as I find that I interact on these services a majority of the time using my phone.

At this time, I am only using Facebook, Twitter (I know it is down a lot) and BrightKite on a consistent basis. These three services meet my above criteria - a vast majority of my family, friends and colleagues are there. Plus, all three are easy to use (at least the way I use them) with the ability to access and update either on the web, mobile web or text.

Yeah, I have accounts with a number of the other services (Pownce, Friendfeed, Plurk) but they do not meet my above criteria to warrant consistent use. At least not at this time...

Facebook IM Coming Soon?

TechCrunch has reported that Facebook is testing a new IM service that could be publicly launched as early as next week. I am not sure how excited about this I should get. I do like the fact that the IM service will reportedly be built on the Jabber open source platform (big fan of open source tools), but not sure how much I or anyone in my network will utilize it. It is very rare that any of us are on Facebook at the same time.  However, when this does occur, the capability to instantly connect will be there.

Funny, getting more excited about this service as I write about it.

For the Facebook Suggestion Box: An added optional service I would find useful is notification (via SMS or email) when a friend updates their status. Just a suggestion. Sounds kind of Twitterish doesn't it?
