Net Neutrality | Now It Should Be Interesting
U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., is reportedly set to introduce a net neutrality measure in January 2009. While the fate of net neutrality in the law was a hot topic earlier this year, it took a back seat for the Presidential election and the current economic crisis.
Now, the dynamics of a net neutrality law may have shifted. With the backing of President-Elect Obama (as well as a slew of other congressional democrats), there may may be new wind in the sail of the net neutrality advocates.
Add that to the likely departure of Sen. Ted Stevens - who looks like he is going to lose his seat, or get it taken away, or go to jail, or all of the above - there may actually be someone serving as Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee that actually understands what this internet everyone keeps mentioning is all about.
